Our Addison Angels Tribute Page

The day that our world seems to come tumbling down, when our wonderful pup seems so ill that we worry s/he won't pull through, can be one of the scariest days of our lives. Then comes the diagnosis of Addison's disease. Many of us have never heard of it before. We do not understand what it means or whether or not our dog can even live with this disease. Before we know it, we become quite skilled in managing our dog's Addison's with the assistance of a good vet and the Addison Dogs support group. Our dog carries on, and we set new goals for him/her as s/he begins taking part in every activity s/he would have participated in if s/he did not have Addison's.

Our Addison's Dog (ADog) leads a full and happy life. The years pass all too soon and our best friend joins the other ADog angels, leaving behind a huge hole in our hearts. This Angels page is here to honor our dogs. It is where we share special memories of them with others. It is a place to come to see them and remember the good times. We hope you enjoy taking a step or two down memory lane with us and rejoice in the lives of our very dear ADog angels.

Gosh, where to begin with our sweet Abbigail Lilly. You came into our lives unexpectedly. It had only been a month since we lost the first dog we ever had to congestive heart failure and your daddy went to a friend's house and saw you chained to the side of a shed. You had 3ft. of chain and no shelter. Needless to say, he brought you home that day. Still mourning the loss of our first girl Holly, I think he thought you would replace the hole in his heart, but instead you filled my heart with all the love an animal can give. You chased butterflies and bees, you pointed birds and squirrels and you stole my heart. You didn't fill the void in your daddy's life, but you filled an emptiness I had in me that I didn't know was there. When I lost you, I lost a part of my heart. I love and miss you so much Abbey. -Cheryl

Cole Fisher
March 25th 2007 - March 18th 2011

I remember bringing you home just after Memorial Day in 2007 and how you absolutely stole my heart. What a handsome boy you were and what wonderful times you and I had together. You enriched my life in a way I never knew was possible. You had the biggest, blackest eyes that would look at me with total love and devotion. You spent so much of your short life sick, and I would have gone to the ends of the earth to make you better...I just could not let you suffer. You can now run and play without being sick. I know that you are always right beside me, and watching out for me. I miss you more than I can ever say. You will forever be my "heart" dog and I will forever love you, my dear, sweet Cole. Anita Fisher.

Dotty
(4/11/99 - 30/30/12)

Dotty, thank you for over 12 years of pure joy. We almost lost you 4 years ago, but you fought back your Addison's Disease to stay with us as long as you could. You comforted the old and blind Lotto Dog when you were a puppy, and in your last year of life you trained our new puppy Newton. You greeted customers at my business, you were a perfect lady on our daily walks. You will be missed, but I am sure you are in Heaven with both of your sisters. Keep a watchful eye, someday we will be together again! If loved could have saved you, you would be with me right now. Rest in Peace sweetheart. Bob

Gracie
(25/5/01 - 20/3/12)

Our beloved Gracie came to us in carry on luggage as my husband flew her home to us from her breeder in Minnesota. Capturing our hearts from the moment she landed, we learned more about how the love of a very special girl can change your life. For almost 11 years she slept pressed up against us, snuggled like no other dog in our lives ever had and wagged her tail in happiness constantly. Forever in our hearts, Gracie is missed every minute of our days. Jan Bradley

Julie
Juliette "Julie" Morris
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge 5-3-2012

We shall forever be grateful for the day that we stopped into PetSmart and we saw little Julie timidly sitting there with her foster mom. Julie's pre-rescue beginning was tragic due to the severe abuse she suffered at the hands of her original owners but we vowed when we adopted her that she would never have a bad day again in her life. She made it so easy for us to keep that promise. We absolutely cherished and loved her immediately after adopting her, and with time and her growing trust with us we saw a personality come out in her that was bigger and more dynamic than any we have been privileged to see. Queen Julie ruled the roost. She made us laugh and smile each and every day of her life with us, and the void left by the joy and love she returned to us is akin to the size of the Grand Canyon in our hearts. There is clearly a small hole in the energy and personality of our home right now that will be felt forever. A very bright and special light has been extinguished in our lives. Rest in peace little Julie and always feel our love for you until we meet again. Wait patiently and know as we do that we will see your precious and oh so special light again.

Julius
(7/15/2000 - 10/24/2011)

Julius you are sadly missed by all every day. I am sorry, I could not be with you during your last moments and I know you were heartbroken when I moved overseas and left you with our son. The separation was probably too much for you to bear. I am sure you must have met your other pals Brutus and Octavius in dog heaven and will be happy with them.
Miss you buddy, Your grieving papa Baldev

LittleLewis
"Little Lewis" Wiegand
(02-14-06 to 04-06-08)

Little Lewis was a Bernese Mountain Dog rescue whom came to us at about 4 months of age, so scared that he was totally shut down. We called him our "furry rock" because where ever you put him, he froze there. In the short time that he had on earth he learned to love life, and grew into one of the most playful and lovable dogs I have ever had. He had congenital issues which caused not only Addisons, but growth problems, he always looked like a puppy. His short life changed me.

Molly
Molly (1-29-96) - (7-14-08)

Perhaps in every dog lover's life, there is one special dog that captures the heart and never lets go. Molly was, and remains, that dog for me. She helped me raise my kids, she helped me lead a Cub Scout troop, she served as mascot for the soccer team my husband coached, she mothered and socialized our bichon puppy, and she was the hit of every school and nursing home she ever visited. Molly was dignified, independent, and smart, the perfect alpha -- all leadership and no aggression. Cats may have 9 lives but Molly had about 57, all of them were filled with pure joy and love for people and other dogs. I am grateful for the extraordinary gift of Molly's life and wish the best for you and your canine companions.

Natty
Natty Bumppo 1972-1983

Natty was rescused from the Humane Society in Chicago at six months never having been out of the basement where he was kept. He was the most wonderful dog I ever had. The last few years of his life he was periodically sick; so many trips to the Vet and nothing was ever resolved. Looking back now, after my experience with Addison's disease, I am certain his symptoms were Addison related. How I wish I had know what was happening almost 30 years ago. Steve Soberski

Ms. Penny
April , 1994 - March 18, 2008

Your first 4 years of life you and I spent every minute together - just you and I against the world. We bonded like never before and still had room in our hearts to bring in the rest of the world because, you see, the more we loved the bigger our hearts grew. That is one thing you taught me, Ms. Penny. You also helped me understand how loving makes you stronger - not wweaker. Then your illness (Addisons Disease) came along and you taught us how to fight for those you love and how to educate out of love. You taught us how to help each other through the hard times and how to focus on the good times. You taught us how adversity can make a community strong and love truly does conquer all. One of the last things you taught me was how loving sometimes means letting go and that letting go doesn't mean forgetting. We will never forget you, Ms. Penny. You are our 4EVER girl. See you at the bridge my precious one ~ all my love, your furmom (Gael Hill-Parkinson)

How could I not fall in love with you the minute I set my eyes on you? Such a handsome face. That nose of yours was never far from my hand in the years to come. You had a zest for life, my happy lad and such an amazing capacity to love everyone you met so they just had to love you back. Thankyou for all you taught me and for being my friend. I miss you loads - my brave boy, with a big heart. Pam Johnson.

My best buddy and friend who I shared so many fun times with and who I loved so much. It was all too short; I think about our walks and all the hiking we did together with you by my side; you were the best and I miss you so much and I will never forget my best friend. Steve Soberski
